From Boxingscene:
Most boxing fans in the United States, Germany, Denmark, Britian and other parts of the world are very excited about Showtime's Super Six tournament, that features six of the best super middleweights in the world, including Mikkel Kessler, Carl Froch, Andre Dirrell, Jermain Taylor, Andre Ward and Arthur Abraham - all facing off under round robin rules.
One man who is not exactly excited by the tournament is WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik. He told Youngstown scribe Joe Scalzo that he never wanted to be a part of the tournament and the money is not worth it. He also took a shot at Showtime when he told Scalzo that nobody watches the network and all of the big-time fighters are on HBO. He says the winner will jump over to HBO.
“Why would I be in that tournament when I’m a middleweight?” Pavlik said. “They never asked me and I never wanted to join. Let them beat each other up. Let them ruin their careers for peanuts."
"Those guys are fighting for peanuts. They’re going to burn their whole career and for what? Nobody watches Showtime. Trust me, when the winner of that tournament fights his next fight, it’ll be on HBO. I like HBO. I will fight for HBO. All the big-time fighters like Floyd Mayweather, [Manny] Pacquiao, [Miguel] Cotto, Shane Mosley, the Klitschkos — they all fight on HBO.”
Whoever ends up being the tournament winner, Pavlik told Scalzo that he would be more than happy to move up to fight them.
“Whoever the winner is,” Pavlik said, “I’ll kick his [butt].”
Big words from someone who hasn't fought in awhile and has no immediate plans for the future...

From Boxingscene: "Why would I be in that tournament when I’m a middleweight?” Pavlik said. “They never asked me and I never wanted to join. Let them beat each other up. Let them ruin their careers for peanuts." I'm using Abraham as an example because he's been a middleweight. Abraham is a middleweight. He struggled to make the weight but don't most fighters struggle. He's in the tournament and Pavlik's not. He took a gamble Pavlik didn't. Pavlik is complaning about being a super middle tournament and he dosen't want to fight bigger men. He complains about lack of opposition and all that crap. If he actually fights instead of sitting on his arse all day waiting for a big opportunity against Anthony Mundine or Sergio Mora (joke). Abraham will get more money from fighting Jermain Taylor, Carl Froch and Andre Ward than fighting Lajuan Simon, Mahir Oral and Raul Marquez everytime to defend his alphabum belt. And more money than Pavlik because he only fights once a year now and that's against someone who can't even break an egg so he won't test Pavlik's chin. Abraham has always called out for Pavlik but Pavlik dosen't bother. Calzaghe was supposed to fight Pavlik after Lacy instead of Manfredo Jr but Pavlik pulled out to face Jose Luis Zertuche! From Boxingscene: "Those guys are fighting for peanuts. They’re going to burn their whole career and for what? Nobody watches Showtime. Trust me, when the winner of that tournament fights his next fight, it’ll be on HBO. I like HBO. I will fight for HBO. All the big-time fighters like Floyd Mayweather, [Manny] Pacquiao, [Miguel] Cotto, Shane Mosley, the Klitschkos — they all fight on HBO.” Did HBO have the balls to put a division together. They've got Cotto, Pacquiao, Mosley, Mayweather, Marquez and Berto under some kind of contract. Why not make a tournament out of them? Because HBO don't want to risk alienating cooporate sponsors and promoters. Showtime had the courage to go ahead with their masterplan and it will pay off because everybody in boxing loves the idea except Pavlik because he has to be all on his own Showtime will make money and could be challenging HBO in 2012 in American TV P4P Boxing tree! Great nut-hugging from Pavlik to keep HBO happy though. From Boxingscene: “Whoever the winner is,” Pavlik said, “I’ll kick his [butt].” Hang on a minute! Doesn't want to be a part of a tounament because he's a middleweight. He wants to move up to fight the winner!? He's just slagged Abraham for not staying in his weight class then he goes on about fighting the winner! He could have fought Abraham this month but he didn't. Could have fought him instead of Gary Rocket Locket but he didn't. The winner will fight a 59 year old Bernard Hopkins (who will most probably still win against them) instead of Pavlik. Chad Dawson, Lucien Bute and Paul Williams (ish) are options for the winners. Pavlik needs to keep busy and fight worthy opponents. He needs to prove why he should be in the tournament instead of Abraham. Big words from someone who hasn't fought in awhile and has no immediate plans for the future... There's rumors that he's in rehab with a drink problem. He needs to get his arse into gear and start building momentum again. He was P4P material before Hopkins and he needs to fight big fights like the Taylor bouts. Agree with you Paul that he's talking himself up when he dosen't look close to agreeing to fight anyone anytime soon.

Calzaghe was supposed to fight Pavlik after Lacy instead of Manfredo Jr but Pavlik pulled out to face Jose Luis Zertuche! But this begs a much different question...Why was Calzaghe looking to give Pavlik a shot at his 168 lb. title when Pavlik was just an unknown middleweight and then deemed Pavlik unworthy of a shot after wins over Miranda and Taylor? Off-Topic, but interesting nonetheless...

It seems odd that he's kissing up to HBO when they have pretty much frozen his career by refusing to air his last bout and refusing to green light his next two potential opponents...
To be fair to Pavlik, I don't think its him making the decision not to fight...I think his people have become very careful about who they match him up against after his public flogging against B-Hop.

Pretty stupid of Pavlik to knock the tournament for trying to better the sport of boxing.

Pavlik has had a hugely disappointing career since the second Taylor win. He has no room to criticize anything or anyone as long as he continues to piss away his career in a Youngstown bar.

"You call this pissing away my career? I'm gonna bang every fat chick in this bar! Now, ladies, who wants to be poltergeisted by The Ghost...?"

Pavlik does look quite beatable in that picture. I'm sure Pavlik's catching flak (outside of Youngstown, I mean), but if this were Floyd, sheesh, he'd be getting destroyed. And some of it, like the concern with the record, is pretty Floyd-like. Lame. Next writer that describes Pavlik as "blue-collar" gets their BWAA card revoked.

Well anytime the topic of the ghost comes up You all know your gonna hear from me.
Memo to Kelly, shut it just fight Somebody and soon the longer you do not fight the less people will remember you.
You know its getting bad when Sergio Mora shows up on Friday night fights and calls out Kelly for a "bogus" staff infection.
