from Boxingscene.com:
As many expected, WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto extended his contract with Top Rank as part of the deal to land a mega-fight with Manny Pacquiao for November 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Several months ago, Cotto became angry with Top Rank's support of Antonio Margarito, who had his license revoked by the California State Athletic Commission. He told outlets that he would explore his options at the end of the year, when his contract was expected to run out.
A recent game of golf in Puerto Rico with Oscar De La Hoya, owner of Golden Boy Promotions, heated up rumors that Cotto might leave Top Rank at the end of the year.
"We have a contract extension, which was one of the arrangements made as part of the negotiations for the Pacquiao fight," Arum told Primera Hora.
Cotto's new deal is expected to expire at the end of 2011.
Hopefully, this means that Cotto will get a fair deal against Pacquiao...

Sounds like Bob Arum lucked out. If I were Coto I would've moved to another promoter. After that little lovefest Arum had with Antonio Margarito

With the whole ordeal goin on with Arum defendin Margarito over Cotto, I believe Cotto shoulda went 2 another company as well... Cotto might be alright now, but, what's Arum gonna be like when Margarito comes back?... Cotto's one hell of a boxer, we all know that, but at the same time, I think Arum has been usin Pac-Man and Cotto as much as possible, because those are 2 of his biggest cash cows right now... When Margarito returns, I think this whole ordeal with Cotto, Margarito, and Arum will begin 2 re-emerge... Arum will jump all over Margarito's beans and leave Cotto in the dark 4 Margarito, AGAIN...
Whether or not Cotto will benefit in a good or bad way from re-signin with Top Rank another 2 years has yet 2 be seen...
Re-signin with Top Rank again may have also put a possible Mayweather/Cotto fight in the future off 4 another 2 years...

After Arum defended the Mater of Plaster Cotto had his chance to leave then. He didn't and he had an agreement if Arum landed him Pacquiao he would stay with Top Rank.
Is this a reason why Pacquiao - Mosley wasn't agreed?

Is this a reason why Pacquiao - Mosley wasn't agreed? Cotto's contract was up at the end of this year, but the Pacquiao deal was probably the catalyst for signing up again... Cotto probably figures that he can get the fight with Mosley whether he's with Top Rank or GBP, but a Pacquiao fight wouldn't be so easy to sign if he wasn't with Arum... I think Mosley-Pacquiao didn't get made because Pacquiao didn't want it...for the same reason that he will have to be dragged, kicking and screaming into a fight with Mayweather: Pacquiao just isn't comfortable working against the "American Style" fighter...And if he can finish off his career with Cotto, Valero and/or a demoralized and de-fanged JMM, him and Arum will be two happy campers...

I'm convinced that a 60 year old de-fanged JMM would still be too smart for the PacMonster
