With Ortiz and Gurrero quitting, Abner Mares splitting and James Kirkland shooting, Golden Boy is looking for someone new to carry them forward. After buying nearly every date in the HBO calendar, Golden Boy's marquee fighters have been disappointing. There plan of displaying the future stars has gone a bit wrong and they need new fighters or a new stragety to carry the company forward. Don't get me wrong they have still got future stars in Danny Jacobs, Guillermo Rigondeaux and Erislandy Lara but Lara and Rigondeaux are just starting out. Mosley has been busy chasing Pacquiao and Hopkins still can't find a worthy oppenent, was rumoured to face Carl Froch but he's now agreed to be involved in the showtime boxing classic.
Amir Khan succesfully won the WBA light-welterweight belt in a near shutout against Andreas Kotelnik last week at the MEN Arena in Manchester. Rumours are that he's a free agent in the next couple of weeks. He wants to fight his 'freind' Ricky Hatton in what would be a massive fight in the UK. The Hitman's relationship with Warren is worse than Russia and Georgia's. Hatton is part of the Golden Boy Team and the fight could get aired on HBO if Khan joins Golden Boy.
Is Khan ready to leave Warren? Are GBP intrested in Khan? What are the chances of Hatton - Khan?

Is Khan ready to leave Warren? Are GBP intrested in Khan? What are the chances of Hatton - Khan? Interesting... Khan reminds me, in a lot of ways, of Oscar...except with a lot less seasoning. But I do doubt his ability, long term, to sustain success on the world stage. I wrote an article about Golden Boy's crumbling empire recently and touched on a few of the same points...Basically, they have more TV dates than fighters and most of their top guys are, literally, a fight or two from being retired. I think they will make a play for a complete promotional deal with Mayweather (which would be smart for both parties) and maybe try to snatch up a free agent or two to hold them over...at least until their young guys move up. Regardless, I think there's too much money on the table to dismiss Hatton-Khan. And, aside from the money, I think its a fight that both sides think they can win.

He is good but I don't think he reign will be long. He has a fragile chin. He got ko'd once and it can happen again!
