i just moved to manchester england and on our estate we have reggae festivals, its great. you'd love it here. i like reggae too, i like jimmy cliff. especially ''vietnam'' manchester is also great for boxing, we've got the men arena where breidis prescott floored amir khan in 54 seconds flat and where he redeemed himself ...a bit, not much... against barrera. and also the reebok arena. i dont know an awful lot about boxing but i plan to take over the site one day, haha just kidding. i dont know many people in my real life who like boxing so my online boxing chums are essential to me. ;D If you go to any live events, feel free to write up your coverage. It would be nice to get some first had reviews of the experiences for our blog. It's what I'm going to be trying to do for my corner of the US.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys,
punchdrunk, I like several boxers, maybe all of these are favorites. I either like them for their skill, their heart and determination or how they carry themselves as a professional in such a demanding sport. I truly believe that besides the necessary propaganda to sell or promote themselves for an upcoming fight, boxers should respect anyone willing to take the risks involved when jumping inside those ropes. It should be part of the professional level they have worked so hard to achieve, and the street fighting attitude and all mud slinging and hair pulling tactics should be a thing of the past.
I like several in different divisions, like Pavlik, Williams, Mosley, Cotto, Urango, Juan-Ma Marquez, Juan-Ma Lopez, Chris John, Vasquez, Montiel, and Darchinyan, for a variety of reasons mentioned above . I also like Clottey, Valero, Gamboa and Caballero but they either need to change something in their style (like Clottey and Caballero) or they really haven’t been truly tested yet at a maximum level and there’s no way to know how they would react to a knock down or continue to fight with nasty cut or a completely shut eye.
I agree with Paul on the clam up defense of Clottey, the sides of the head and the rib cage are good targets if he’s not punching back, it takes him a few seconds to react and in my opinion that’s enough time for someone with the skill to move in and out of his range to capitalize on the slow peek-a- boo response.
I don’t really like the style of Celestino Caballero either, nothing against him personally, but I think he lost his last fight with the fighter from Africa whose name I couldn’t pronounce even if I remembered. No surprise, the judges were bias. He received more blows than usual and ran out of gas in the middle of the fight. Did anyone see that fight? I think he has a wide open style, his punches are wide and has retained his belt because of his height and not his skill. He’s tall and lanky but can in no way be compared to Paul Williams. Williams stays busy in all rounds and can take a punch, he may have even made powder out of Margaritos plaster inserts, who knows? Margarito is one guy I lost total respect for, if a pro needs to cheat, he reduces himself to a bum.
I personally think that Celestino should stay as far away from Juan Manuel Lopez as possible or be dismantled. One guy I like from Panama is a gentleman called Anselmo Moreno, not very popular internationally but has good boxing skills and a Cotto type of humbleness that never belittles or disrespects his opponents until the first bell rings.
Oh, almost forgot I’d keep an eye out for up-coming Guillermo Rigondeax, now under Freddie Roach, he seems to have skills that can be fine tuned by Freddie.

I'm glad you said that about Celestino Caballero, Fred...I think Caballero is one of those guys who has benefited from his lack of exposure because, after seeing a few of his fights, he does indeed have some fatal flaws... He's one of those champions who has been able to be successful for a long period of time because he has an awkward style and because he's faced a relatively low level of competition since he pretty much refuses to fight outside of his home country...Other guys in that same category: Sven Ottke, Joe Calzaghe, Dariusz Michalczewski, Juan Coggi, new Hall of Famer- Bryan Mitchell, Chris John (although I think he's better than the others in this category), etc... I did see Caballero's last fight against Jefferey Mathebula and I agree that about half way through the fight, Caballero looked to be gassed and was stopping Mathebula with the sheer awkwardness of his long-armed style...

It's all true. And I can vouch for Terry; he's one of the best there is. Other facts about him: He likes Twizzlers, he likes the alligator Bob, and his favorite movie is Bloodsucking Freaks (just like your mama).

Hi guys, My name is Matt (Vez), i'm 24 and I live in Manchester UK. I've been a massive boxing fan for many years. My favourite fighters at the moment are Amir Khan, John Murray, Israel Vasquez and obviously Manny.
Go to watch fights quite often, the last fight i went to was Khan v Kotelnik at the M.E.N.
Found this site while looking for a stream of the Witter fight but looks like i'm too late. I like the look of the site though and will hopefully stay and get involved.
Cheers.
