This week: Showtime's got a broadcast to get North American viewers their fix, and some of us (who get Televisa) will see Cruz-Castillo for the IBF featherweight title. Dozens may shell out to see Killer Kermit Cintron stay busy in San Juan. Check the full schedule at www.btbc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=tv&action=display&thread=2605Elsewhere:- Edison Miranda stays on the comeback trail in California (not in L.A., not in San Diego, not in the Bay area--in Lemoore). - The Polish fight of the Century goes down in Lodz as Andrew Golota welcomes Tomasz Adamek to the heavyweight division. (Get me the scoop on this one--a stream, a radio broadcast, a smoke signal--anything will do.) - Two young prospects, Archie Ray Marquez and Gary Russell Jr., show up on the Laredo, TX, undercard. - Dad and son share billing in downtown Vegas, and Oisin Fagan, journeyman (but still!) is lined up with a 2-38 opponent in Dublin.

Oliver McCall decisions Lance "Mount" Whitaker. From Fight News:
In an interesting battle of comebacking heavyweight notables, 44-year-old former WBC heavyweight champion Oliver McCall (54-9, 37 KOs) dropped 37-year-old longtime contender Lance Whitaker (34-6-1, 28 KOs) in round one and went on to win a narrow ten round unanimous decision on Saturday night at The Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Scores were 95-94 on all cards for McCall, who retained his IBA Continental belt.
I'd be interested to see how rounds 2-10 went. McCall has kind of become the house guy at the Orleans, so this is his home field. On the undercard, McCall's son Elijah won by second-round KO.

Unconfirmed rumor that Cristobal Cruz has the swine flu and his bout with Ricardo Castillo is off. Cruz-Solis was a contender for worst bout of the year. The scrappiest contest I've ever scene. Solis should've won but he threw it away. How Cruz is a titleholder is a mystery in itself on the basis of that fight. Swine flu on the case of serious mismatches!
